"This is my son pulling our ’62 Original wearing our Russian-sponsored safety equipment (MIG fighter helmet). We bought the Cub about two years ago and have since begun pulling it at local garden tractor pulls. It still uses the belt drive system and we’ve nicknamed it the “Belt-driven Underdog”.

It now has a 10hp Kohler and a set of Firestone 23-degree 26x12x12s on the rear. We purchased one of our club’s hats and my son and I have a friendly “Championship” going where whoever pulls further at each meet gets to wear the “trophy”. We mark the date and the victor’s distance. They get to wear it proudly and defend their title at the next meet. Trash talking is optional."

Thanks guys!

That is my older son doing the driving. We're currently working on "O" number two for the younger one. His will be more of a driver than a puller. It's got the 7hp engine still and skinny ag tires. We're turning into an Original family!

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.

MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
