Tilling Gardens
Guys,
Just wondering if you provide this service to others less fortunate to not have any cubs in the garage or shed.... Got the 1650 and 38" tiller up and running and placed an add in the local services dept...Already had 2 calls on it but have no idea what would be fair in labor or services rendered.. Anyone else helping out the locals?? Thanks |

I was thinking of this too. Lol i was thinking enough to cover the fuel and then the wear on the belts at least but have no idea what that would be.

Obviously this is for turning a garden, not tilling, but it may help. I've had a few calls. Also the same price if I go back a couple of weeks later and disk it.
Spring is almost here and it is close to time to get gardens plowed up and be ready to plant those fresh home grown vegetables. If you are tired of large heavy tractors messing up your yard and grass I think I have the equipment that is perfect for those small garden plots. Prices for plowing vary to the size of plot you want turned. $20 for a plot up to 20'x20' $30 for a plot 30'x30' $40 for a plot 40'x40' Other sizes can be discussed.

Yeah, the same price
And your wife is probably right in regards to the beating a tiller puts on a tractor and that expensive belt. I use a lot less fuel than you will with the diesel and my disc is heavy and cuts great. I was able to finish my 30x30 plot in about 5 minutes with the disc. I spent about 4 more minutes playing. That was the Vid I had posted a couple of weeks ago. Turning a garden is very little effort and really doesn't take that long to do. Tilling a plot, you have to go pretty slow and it can be a bit more time consuming. You might consider doubling the prices I show, and that would still come in quite a bit cheaper than someone with a large tractor I would believe. Also I made sure in my add to state I would only stay in the county. That greatly reduces my fuel consumption for getting there, tho believe it or not most people offer to pay for that too.

Ive got a 60 inch on the back of the TO35 and always have requests to do gardens. I just dont do it. Ya never know what lurks in some garden spot, like buried old iron. The tines are 12 bucks each and gas is 4 bucks agallon. I dont think I could give a fair price and make us all happy !

There is 0% chance I would do a garden for less than $100. Any size!!
At under $100 you are donating your time, fuel, and machine. At under $100 you are money ahead keeping the tractor in the shed. At under $100 per hour you are loosing money. I do this type thing for neighbors, but, I quit charging years ago. |

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.
MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
