My brother in law had trouble with the PTO on his cub the yesterday. It got me to wondering, how long they last and do they give any notice of failure or just suddenly die?

Probably a part I should buy and have on hand so I never need it.

I have the original one on my 1977 Cub Cadet 1450 that is in use and still works fine.

I bought my 1863 new in about 1994. Still using the original PTO. The bearing was replaced a few years ago. Used with mower deck and snow blower.

Expensive part to have on the shelf getting dusty.

I bought my 1572 new in 1987. It still has the original PTO and bearings.

bugeye, you are close to me so if mine ever goes I'll stop by and borrow yours!

My brother in law has a newer tractor so maybe the quality isn't as good as the older ones.

I won't worry about it for now but if I jinxed myself I'll be back!

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester.
