Greetings from Southern California
Greetings all, been lurking here for a month or so just gathering info and doing research on my first garden tractor purchase. Finally got to pull the trigger yesterday so I'm officially a Cub owner now! I wanted to introduce myself and just start by saying thank you for the wealth of information contained and shared here. It really has been a pleasure to see how you all interact within this community and I'm proud to join your ranks. This is my first tractor, ever. I think it's nearly every young man's dream (at least from my generation...not so sure anymore) to one day have their own tractor. My property isn't very large (about 2/3 acre) but it's big enough that when we lost our gardener at the end of last year, I was able to justify with my better half getting the tractor and taking on the yard work with my kids...plus it is not my intention to stay in California any longer than I have to, so I'm trying to prepare for the goals of having much larger property in 10 or less years. Having done months of looking and research, I decided I definitely did NOT want a new tractor, and felt for the money I spent on a new one, I could locate an older tractor, give it some love, buy some fun toys for it, and have it far outlast a newer tractor. I had just about given up on trying to find a good candidate here in Ca as it seems most of the good ol' Cubs are located in the eastern US, and had even started to negotiate an offer for a used tractor in PA. Sunday night I went to the net to search once again (my daily ritual) and would you believe...within 65 miles of my home a GT2544 had shown up for sale, and at less than 1/4 the cost of what I was prepared to pay for a tractor and have it shipped out here to me. I feel so blessed to have found it. I was able to arrange to see it yesterday, and ended up purchasing it! Running, complete. She needs a little TLC, I'll have to rebuild the deck (it's a mess with noisy bearings, a bent bracket making the belt rub, blades that look like they've been run through rocks, etc) but I look forward to the process of making it new again. Obviously, a major tuneup and service for the engine and trans is in the works also, and then some elbow grease and a major cleaning for the aesthetic element. Future plans include a sleeve hitch assy, and a johnny bucket jr or some similar loader/scraper type attachment for the front. Anyway, that got a tad long winded but I am excited to be here. Download the parts and operating manual they will be your 2nd best friend I have a GT2550 so if I am able to help with my limited mechanical ability ask away Mine is the later plastic bonnet model but pretty much everything else is the same only 50 inch deck instead of your 44 inch There was a recall and Service kit for the deck 753-0871 and 759-04324A were available a few years back Try Cub you never know your luck , there is only 2 answers Oz

Spent many years on a very similar CC 2185. Bercomac has some items that may fit. Thinking rotary broom and tiller, not snow blowers in So CA.
