New Fuel Pump Dumps Fuel out of the Carb
I finally had some time to get back on my 1282 project, I purchased a new fuel pump for it off Amazon and it works fine for the most part. After running for about 3-5 seconds it starts dumping fuel out the carburetor.
As with most Chinese Amazon parts, it didn’t come with any instructions, included with it was a snap ring, but I couldn’t find anywhere i thought it would fit. So my question is, where would this snap ring go? Assuming that’s part of the problem at all. if anyone else has had a similar problem I’d be interested to know your remedy. Thanks!

Sounds like a carburetor float/needle/seat issue. These pumps don't typically develop enough pressure to overcome the float.
That being said, I would ditch the Amazon pump altogether. If you need a fuel pump, I'd recommend using an inline electric pump rated for 1-2 PSI. Facet pump number 40177 is a tested and reliable option. The knock off aftermarket pumps have extremely variable quality and I personally would not trust it to last. The snap rings are just fitting installation tools for the plastic pumps.

I've not had any issues yet with the cheap China pumps from Scamazon but I think I only used 2 of them. It sounds like you have a carb issue.
You don't need a fuel pump on the 82 series as long as the fuel level is above the carb in the gas tank and your not trying to mow the side of a mountain. I ran an 1811 for a few years with the pump bypassed.

Finally got back to this after way too long lol.
Swapped the Carb with one I knew worked and it started up and ran pretty good! It’ll run at about half throttle pretty good but wants to miss at full just a little bit. I went ahead and refreshed the ignition system, new coil, points and condenser. I’m going to go back and try to adjust the carb and get it running a little better, I may try to adjust the throttle cable because I only seem to have about half of the throttle movement anyway. Now to just get it to start with a key now, thinking it’s the solenoid but we’ll see. Thanks for the help!

You could always check the float/needle in the new carb too, as it's likely the source of the original problem.
