Diesel drivetrain
I have read that the Kubota diesel d600 is pretty close to the same torque and horsepower rating as the KT 17 kohler. But I have also read that because the torque of a diesel they are especially hard on the drivetrain??? If they are rated the same then why do diesels wear the drivetrain parts out more often than their gas counterpart?? Just a curiosity if anyone has an opinion.

i think you answered your own question more torque but also there is a slight angle to the driveline that helps wear it out

Ok I can agree with the angle of the drive shaft being different but the torque ratings for both engines are pretty much the same so the torque of the diesel shouldn't cause any more wear than the gas engine

torque is alot lower on a diesel, and can hammer stuff apart easier, has to do with the longer stroke and compression too.

Simple answer: They vibrate more. More crank pulse from the diesel motor, and the fact it has 3 cylinders and not 2. |

I appreciate the input just was curious as to why. I never thought about the vibration being more and the difference in the number of cylinders but it makes perfect sense now that I think about it.

RPM is the same. Both engines run at 3600 at wot.....

the torque curve on a diesel starts at a lower rpm. also due to the higher compression, they pulse alot harder than a gas engine, and it can destroy stuff quicker.

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.
MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
