Default 104 with custom hydraulics

Got this 104 from a member a few months back. Long story short, it got a rear PTO, 3pt, and its getting custom hydraulics with parts I had laying around. Heres some pics...

Just wondering...... why do you have the pump mounted upside down with the hydraulic ports on bottom?

Good question Jonathan! Not really sure...setting a trend I suppose...as long as its full to the recommended amount, it should still function...

I don't think you follow me.

The ports for the hoses off the pump..... they are on bottom. I don't think there is room for the hoses to mount. You need to loosen the housing, rotate the tank and flip the front housing over. Then the ports, and the fill hole on the tank will both be on top. New problem..... the shaft will then be on bottom and too low to mount a pulley on. Sorry to point out possible issues man... But I just don't know how your going to have room for fittings with the ports that close to the frame, and one on the back side is basically butted up to the lift cylinder.

Ok, I see what you are saying. There is actually a fair amount of room to come out with a 90 degree fitting in there. I know, it looks real tight, and there isn't any spare room in there, but I think I can get it. If not, I may space the unit out with a few washers. My plan is to route the hoses around the unit going to the spool valve instead of going between the dash tower/pump. I'll keep you posted. Thanks Jon

Ok.

One more thing to consider. If the hoses/fittings are on top, you won't need as much hose. Saves $$.

Got some time today to continue this project. Today I measured the lengths I needed for hoses from the pump to the spool valve and to the rear ports and had them made. All the hoses are tight and ready to go I finished up all the pump linkages around Christmas. Some linkages will be rebuilt using better round rod. The round outside lever will run the rear ports, and a combination of the round lever and the flat lever will run the 3pt hitch. I still need to make mounts on the rear to hold the Pioneer couplers, and haven't decided yet if I want to run the remote hyd. hoses through the fender base and come up a little higher, or run them as shown underneath the fender base and bolt the couplers to the frame. Another thing that needs to be done is to connect the cylinder to the rockshaft. A known issue now is the cylinder has little up or down movement now that the hoses are traveling between the pump and the cylinder. Need to give it a little breathing room. Next design will be the belt idler/tensioner.

I would think higher would be better so that the hoses would be less likely to hang down in the dirt. The overall goal is to either build/buy a pull behind double gang disc with hydraulic lift to do gardens with.
