Default Warner 5209-46 PTO Clutch Question

When I removed the PTO clutch on my 1862 to replace the seized bearing, I found that the potting material that encases the field windings is cracked and has pieces missing (see attached picture). It doesn't look like the coating on the windings has been damaged.
Should I clean it up and find a high temp epoxy to repair it with, use a high temp automotive RTV, or just clean it up and leave it alone?

With a DVM, check the resistance from case ground to the power lead. It should be in the 3 to 5 ohm range. If that is good, you can seal that back up. I have done it with JB Weld. You can also use a Heat Temp Silicone.

Thanks. That was the first thing I did to make sure that a repair was worth pursuing and it is good with no short to ground. I will go the JB Weld route.
