Default Cub Cadet LT1042 PTO engage/mowing issue
I wasn’t ever able to get the Cub Cadet LT1042 that I got for $50, running, but it is Winter. Hopefully it’ll run and drive in the Spring. Anyways, I was told that the mower deck is the only thing on it that doesn’t work. Yesterday I removed the mower deck but it appeared to be all there and everything seemed correct and in good shape. The blades and belt turn as they should. So now I’m thinking it’s either a wiring issue or the PTO blade clutch. If it’s the PTO blade clutch, is there a way I can test it without the mowing running?

YES. With a DVM (or VOM) measure the resistance (ohms) between the wire lead and PTO case (or ground). A good PTO, will be in the neighborhood of 3 to 5 Ohms.
