K161 bore size
Does anyone happen to know the serial number break from when they swapped from the small bore k161 to the large bore?

I can't say that I ever heard of a small and large bore for the K161. There is NOTHING in the Kohler K Series Service that mentions that.
However, there is a bore difference between the K161 and the K181 when Cub Cadet started substituting the K181 for the K161 in replacements.

I have a small bore engine around here some place. I think it might be a engine from an original that is a rope start. as far as tearing into an engine, all one has to do is remove the head, and measure the bore.
