Default Model 800?

What is the range this is worth? 800 fresh rebuild, has small starter, correct air box, and muffler/box. Does not have a clutch on it. Straight but rusty.

Does not have a PTO clutch? Or an engine clutch?

Does it have any other options? Lights? 3pt?

In that condition, I'd say no more than $500 if it runs. You say it has a fresh rebuild.... but what did that include? Rings? Or was the crank ground, block bored, new valves, rebuilt carb........ Even if the motor is brand new, it won't add much to the price. I've seen about 3 good looking running 800's in Illinois bring around $600 and they had mower decks. Yes, they are rare, but they are still just a QL with some special parts. Seems the 169's are a more sought after model at the moment. Price on them has went stupid high.

Where in Michigan are you, and what would you want for trade?

I used a ebay rebuilt kit with a new rod, the cylinder was honed and within spec. Lapped the valves.

A while back, a fella from PA was trying to buy them all up. I think he was offering around $450 on up. Yours has some goodies on it, like the small starter, muffler shield.....two things I need for my own 800! I spoke with some guys at a swap meet trying to get a starter and they told me prepare to pony up about $450 for just the starter. Naturally, they are worth more in pieces than together. So your starter should fetch around $400+, the muffler shield should bring $100-$200 and the air cleaner cover usually sells for somewhere around $100. I do not know much about the price of the carbs for those. If you have the correct muffler, it will bring around $125+ for it.

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.

MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
