Default homemade lift rod

The lift rod I got with my 54in blade had been bro ken and welded by the PO. So I decided it didnt look too pretty and I didnt want to drill a 5/8 hole in my lift arm, so I made one. 25in piece of stainless pipe, fused nuts on the ends with a tig welder and screwed in some threaded rod gate supports from tsc for about 25.00 in materials all together. I worked it hard in the gravel driveway for about 3 hours and it didnt break or bend. I think it will hold up. The ends are adjustable in case you want a little more down or up. pics for your viewing pleasure.

Nice, I like it . . . Given me some ideas. I'm refurbishing my snowthrower. Looks like a lot better lift rod than I have for it. Maybe even give a little more lift to it.

I like the fact that I can adjust it for more lift for pushing snow this winter, and lower it a bit if i need to dig with it. Took me about 15 minutes to make this once I figured out what I wanted to do. If anyone is interested I can make a few for just above cost and shipping, I drilled a 11/16 hole in my lift to allow for the 5/8 rod. So the smaller 1/2 inch hole can still be used for the snowblower if the need arises.

I just started a thread on the length of this lift rod. What's it supposed to be?

I saw this idea a few years back and did this as well. I already had the 1" tubing so I just needed the gate hinge bolts. My welds don't look as pretty though.

So I could space it out away from the Frankenstein bolts I stacked up some washers and put a bead down the side to hold them together.

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.

MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
