Default The 782D in the for sale section.....

http://onlycubcadets.net/forum/showthread.php?t=2597

Alright guys, help me out here. As you all know, I'm pretty new to these tractors. I want a 782D to put an FEL on. Let's pretend that this one is in good shape and runs well (I haven't seen it yet). It's within easy driving distance from me. Is this a decent deal, or should I keep looking for one a little cheaper? Being as how it comes with the snowblower, it seems like a good deal to me, but then again, I spent $1450 on a 100.................

Also, I can't find much info on these tractors, should this have a rear PTO?

I was wondering the same thing. When one is available , who knows. I have not seen another one for sale. Supply and demand. Wonder what they sold for new? Not that that matters but curious. I would love to have one.

I probably have more than that in mine, but without any details....who knows.

Stitch, don't waste a 782D for a loader...use the diesel for something you need the fuel economy/power for, like blowing snow or mowing grass. You really only need about 12 hp for a loader tractor. A 782D is overkill for such a thing. Only the supers had a rear PTO, so this will not have one.

I'd say for that price in this current economic situation, it better have a 3-point.

I agree on the 3pt. I wanted a diesel cub anyway, so I figure I'll get a loader for it and kill two birds with one stone. I want a wide frame tractor that's a bit heavier than my 100 for my loader tractor, so while I agree that the engine will be overkill, this should fit the bill. I really do want one with a rear PTO though, so we'll see.

I've been looking for a while, and this is the first one I've seen for sale that didn't have an obscene price tag on it. The guy is going to send me pics of the tractor tonight, if I for some reason pass on it, I'll pass them on to this site (with his permission, of course), so someone else can get a crack at it. Stitch has dibs! Stitch has dibs!

I would find out from him if the driveshaft is good or not, how easily it starts, if there's any leaks on the engine, etc. The driveshaft is a major pain to repair, and these eat them. Figure at least $200 to fix that yourself. Try to find out from him if it's been serviced regularly. If it hasn't been, you'll be replacing all the fuel lines and both fuel filters at a minimum.

Will do, thanks a lot Matt!

I'll let everyone know if I wind up with a tractor and a ticked off wife......................or just a ticked off wife.

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.

MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
