Valspar Paint by the gallon questions
Hey Guys,
Has anyone used the Valspar Tractor and Implement Paint sold by the gallon to paint a Tractor? Is it any good? I have been looking a Majic Paint and from what I can that is decent stuff. I'm trying to figure out what the best stuff to paint my 982 might be. Also for a 982 are the IH Red and IH White the right colors or would it be IH Red and Cub White? http://www.valsparpaint.com/en/find-...nt-enamel.html

I used van sickle from orscehlens on my 1200. Looks fine hardened up good. I used their hardened then whatever was specified for reduced. Looks good! It has some scratches and chips now, but it's a worker. If it didn't get some scratches it wouldn't look right! Lol

Lots of people used Valspar when it was Tractor Supply's house brand.
Now it's Majic as you know. From what I can see all the alkyd enamels are about the same though. I wouldn't even be surprised if they are made in the same factory. They all dry slow but it can be shortened with hardener and a reducer. I'm going with majic as it's easier to source than valspar for me locally. As for color matching I'm not sure how they match up anymore. |

Valspar makes the case/ih paint and that's what I use, it lays out nice and has a nice shine to it.

I used IH rouge red with the Valspar hardener. Did it 7 years ago and still shines. Love my 782, I rebuilt it twice. The second time I dropped an 18 HP Kohler Magnum in with electronic Ignition. Have fun rebuilding.

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.
MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
