Cool New Z-turn

Hello all and I am stumped with my 2005 Zero turn. I couild not find anywhere to turn but here with the experts, so here I am.

One of my hydrostatic motors has stripped the spline off the drive pully and shaft. CC will only replace the entire Hydro unit which is $1,300, ouch I said to that one. What I am trying to find is who the manufacture of the hydo unit is. The model of the mower is 53AA5A61710 and the p/n of the entire hydro is 01008193. HELP GRASS IS GETTING TALL !!!

I went to partstree and with the model number you gave me I could not look up the part with it. What's the model painted on the side of the mower? The complete unit list for $976.33. They must be adding labor to the cost.

Duke
I called Parts tree too and they got me a PN HG50302 for the pully $21.24. At the time parttree (Robin) was not able to tell me the hydo model other than is is a Hydro-gear. I went to Hydro gear site but could not find the PN form parts tree. I am going to tear it out over the week end and see I can find numbers or something on the case to ID it. As a FYI the $1300 from my local dealer was cash & cary for the unit

Default mower model

I forgot to list that 53AA5A6L710, but you (duke) did found the correct hydro unit. It is a Hydro-gear, again looking for the Hydro-gear model for the entire unit, just as a FYI for future use, but I may need the shaft connected to the pully as well.

Great! Another thing to watch out for on my RZT. I think mine is a 2004 RZT 50. Mine likes to spin the splines out of the rear hubs. And the hydros burn out (I run mine pretty hard on steep hills) so I've found a trick to service them. I drilled a hole in the bottom, drained the fluid and tapped the hole with a pipe plug. I refill them with Mobil 1 synthetic oil and they go right back to working. Last time I priced out a hydro unit, I think it was about $730.

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.

MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
