It's a hi dollar Fluke DMM, so hopefully it is accurate. The DC volts out of the R/R is only battery voltage (12.3), measured across ground and red wire, I believe that should be the charging wire. But I checked the others and I'm only getting battery voltage. I Guess I'm going to try a new three wire R/R.

Check and clean all the electrical connections between the alternator and regulator before replacing parts.

Under what conditions are you measuring the 37 VAC at WOT? disconnected from the battery? At the input of the regulator? The Kobota voltage regulator has a built in voltage reference source that limits the output and shuts down the output to stop charging once the battery is fully charged. So, if the 37 volts is measured at the input, while the output is about 13V then you are ok. The regulator will be shut off and not allow additional charging of the battery. The Kubota regulator is not a simple rectifier. I have an internal schematic of it around here somewhere if I can find it.

Offhand the only item I can come up with right not is from the IH servive manual. It states.... Alternator no load output AC volt or more @ 5200 RPM @20 volts.

is this correct or is this why my regulator seems to be kaput? Seems like they're usually 28-30 volts?
