Default XT1 Enduro series Kohler engine

Where is the idle screw on my Cub Cadet XT1 Enduro series 22hp with Kohler engine? If you say it's on the carburetor, where is the carburetor?

The carburetor is at the opposite end of the throttle control cable from where you place your hand to adjust the engine speed.
If you are looking for the idle adjustment screw you must want to adjust it. If you don't know where to look for it you probably
shouldn't be adjusting anything.

Your probably right but I'll do it anyway. That's how I learn stuff. I don't think a quarter turn on an idle screw with brick my mower. If I turn it and it doesn't sound right I'll turn it back. If it vaporizes I'll buy another one.

Sometimes it's easier to help a person when they ask a question that gives the people that they are asking for help some idea of what their problem is. For instance, someone asks "Where are the lug nuts on my car?" instead of "I have a flat tire on my car, how do I change it?". Get the picture??

Having never looked at an XT1, I don't know where the carburetor is either, but it's under the hood somewhere but it is not hard to find. But, I'll tell you this with confidence.... With the XT1 being a late model tractor, the carburetor will likely NOT have mixture adjustment screws. It will more likely have main mixture and idle mixture JETS inside the carburetor. And I don't know if you can get interchangable jets for your carburetor. The only adjustment you will likely have is the idle speed screw.

My hunch is that your tractor probably needs a simple tuneup... Change air filter, fuel filter, new sparkplugs gapped correctly and perhaps even an oil/filter change. If this tractor has been neglected in this basic service, then I'd give a fair chance your tractor will run better if you follow up on the routine maintenance.

Good luck!

Carburetors are down stream from the air cleaner and usually attached to them.
and likely all you can adjust is the idle rpm's on these newer lawnmowers.
Guessing that is what you want to do?
Might be one of those newer fool injection thingy's that are compooter controlled.
might look up yer model on the cub cadet parts site and see what it has.

You mean a question such as "where is the carburetor"? That's what I asked. I didn't ask for any advice on how to fix anything. I didn't realize my question would be so complicated. I'll try to be clearer in the future although I doubt I'll have any other questions. Get the picture?

I think what Ironman was saying is. If you want to trim your toenail, You would first need to know where your foot is. If you dont know where your foot is... Well, I wouldn't try trimming the nail. The carb is bolted to the engine. You could follow the fuel line, throttle cable, choke cable, etc to it to locate it.... Its usually right under or behind the air cleaner housing. Thats the thing that hold the filter that filters out crap from being sucked into the carb.

All shenanigans aside.. Ironman was not trying to be crude or rude. But he is right. If you cant find the carb, well, you probably should not be messing with it...

Heres a little anecdote but absolutely true.

A real good buddy of mine "ex cop" decided to purchase a boat... Never been on a boat much less own one. Well, he was real proud of it and wanted to take me for a spin. He needed gas before our trip. Normally, the guys at the marina will top off the tank for him. On this day they were short handed. I had gone too buy some beer and the kid at the counter asked him if he could pump his own gas that day... I walked back to the dock to see he was still pumping gas.. "15 min later" Before I got close to the boat I shouted.. "how big a tank ya got on that thing?" His response was "dont know, This is my first time filling it... Well.. Low and behold, the stench as I entered the boat, and stepping into a pool of gas quickly told me what he had done...

YES FOLKS.. HE WAS FILLING THE ROD HOLDER.... MY HAND TO GOD THIS IS A TRUE STORY!

His next reaction had I not stopped him, certainly could have killed us both and some innocent bystanders .. He wanted to turn on the bilge pump to get rid of the gas..

Anyway.. moral of the story. There are certain things in life that if you dont have any experience with... Ya just dont touch it.

Toenails and boats. Thanks I should have no problems finding the carburetor now.

Thanks everyone for all the helpful advice. I'm off to the garage to turn the idle screw.

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.

MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
