Cub Cadet 2084
Hello everyone. Going to pick up a 2084 tomorrow. Everything seems good. Has a 3 point hitch and rear pto. It looks like a kohler m20 motor from the picture. Didn't these come with a ch20 motor?
Thanks, Earl

Yes, they did. That one has been repowered. Looks like it came from a early cyclops though, by the heat shield.

Saw that on Craigslist. Good deal especially with three point. Hope it serves you well.

2084 motor
It thought it probably was repowered. That's okay because I like the magnum motors.
Thanks, Earl

Could it actually be a 2082? Although you'd think the po knows what he has.

2082's had Mag 20's, 2084's had CH20's. My bet is that is a 2082.

Well went and picked it up yesterday. I am really baffled. When I took off the side cover this is what I found. The air cleaner say M20 and the tin says M18. Also there is no oil filter. The cover where the lines come out of the motor is a solid cover with no fittings. I am not even sure if this is a 2084. The decal 2084 is not in the right spot from what I see on other 2084's. I am really not sure how to read the model number on the serial tag. The tractor runs decent, and everything works, but I think I should have taken a better look. Any help in figuring this out would greatly be appreciated. I am feeling like why did I get myself into this one.
Thanks, Earl

A 2082 would have a model numbers 140-731-100, 141-731-100, 142-732-100. At least that is what Google said. All depends on the serial number which one it is. The Cub Cadet site will have the serial number breakdowns.

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.
MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
