Default 1572 Wiring

This weekend I finally was able to start my 1572 project and hopefully bring it back to life.

Background on the machine: I bought it unrunning but complete several months ago, somewhere in its previous life the wiring harness was spliced, hacked and bodged together. It would turn over with the key however the glow plugs would not light, turns out it had a New Holland key switch installed that was only two positions. I individually tested each glow plug and they are functioning, just no voltage supplied to them. They do appear to be the upgraded NGK units.

The wiring is such a mess and I have one day hopes to fully restore this machine I decided to cut my losses and order a new wiring harness for it.

Present day: Old harness has been entirely removed. Working on installing the new harness I am a little uncertain how it is routed in the framework. Does anyone have a picture or illustration as to what it might look like, specifically behind the dash? From what I can discern it loops up almost to the hood and then down on either side of the steering column? I've obtained most of the original missing components such as a Kubota key switch, PTO switch and reverse relay. Still need an oil indicator and headlight switch.

Hoping to bring this beast back to life this summer, it has a very nice 60" Haban deck waiting on it to cut some grass. Appreciate the help!

The wiring harness on my 782D goes up to the uppermost part of the dash assembly level or a bit higher than the top of the battery. Once you connect the ignition switch, oil light, PTO switch, charging system, and the glow plug indicator it will make sense.

As for the light switch, this is what it looked like originally:

If you search for an Indak 2 position toggle switch, you may find something close if not right on. 12V and min 10A capacity.

Here is something that might work

Making progress I thought…. The harness is mostly installed, I hooked up the battery to see if it would turn over. Nothing.. the seat switch is not installed. Would that prevent it from turning over and the fuel pump from coming on?

No, the seat switch on my 782D only controls the PTO.

Hmmm thanks. Guess I need to retrace my steps, something isn’t right then.

The brake switch and pto switch are the only 2 safeties in the start circuit. In the start position, power comes out on terminal 50 of the ignition switch then through the pto switch then the brake switch to the solenoid. The circuit breaker and amp meter are before the switch so they need to be working too.

Thanks for the insight, I will check there first. I am suspecting I flipped the two red wires on the PTO switch upside down.

That makes NO difference. As long as both wires are connected to the C & D terminals.

The other safety is the reverse switch, I see it is not connected in your picture.

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.

MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
