Looking for Advice
I was working on my 1772 this past weekend since it was raining outside. I put a set of braces that Sam designed on the rear end. I am planning to also put on a 383 3PT hitch later when I have more time. The original bolts that held the axle tubes on the center carrier were I believe 3/8-16x 2.25" bolts. The rear brace kit came with 3/8-16x 2.75" and the brace is 0.375" thick. Now, the lower link attaching points that come from Cub Cadet in the 383 3PT kit comes with 3/8-16x 4.00" bolts. Since I need to account for the 3/8 thick brace, I need to add that to the 4" bolts I was supplied. Can I get by with using 3/8-16x 4.50" bolts for the lower link? Does anyone off-hand know what they may have used or if the depth of the blind holes on the center carrier is sufficient to accommodate the 4.5 " bolts, 3 on each side?
