Default Cub Cadet 1782

I've got an opportunity to buy a 1782 with 1100hrs on the clock. What should I look for before I get to excited and just give them all my money Lol. All plastic looks to be intact and it's got a 60" Haben deck under it. Claims it needs a new PTO to deck belt also has the deck shields as well. Thanks

Nice looking machine from the picture. How much money is "All your money"
With 1100 hrs. it will certainly require some more cash, and work. As they all do.

I went this afternoon and looked the tractor over. No leaks that i could see. Lucky for me he didn't try to hide any by giving it a bath first or starting it before I got there. From a cold start the little Kubota fired right up and purred away. Drove and mowed with it all seems to be good. All in all for a 30yr old tractor it was a lot nicer than I expected. Quick question are they always slow in reverse or was this an issue?

YES, reverse is ALWAYS slower than forward.

I'm going to have a lot of questions about this machine so please bear with me. The deck under this machine is a Haben 325 but Cub Cadet calls for the 374. What is the difference and how will this affect me finding the pto to deck belt. One deck shows a 94" belt and the other a 97.5" belt and I do not have the belt that was on it.

Haban made a lot of implements for Cub Cadet. When looking up parts, use the Cub Cadet model numbers. Per the Cub Cadet Parts Look Up, use: 954-3051A V-Belt B-Sect - 97.5"

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.

MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
