Default 1210 vibration

New to the forum, long time reader, first time poster. I did a search, but wasn't able to find quite what i was looking for.

My 1210 Hydro stopped on me while mowing yesterday, i was able to limp it back to the garage, with a bad vibration. I pulled the covers and it is obvious the drive shaft is causing the issue. It looks like while the driveshaft was out of shape it got into the hydro filter and put a small cut in it and the rags.

Is there a bolt of some sort that goes through the coupler and hooks it to the transmission? I have a picture if it helps. Is something missing here? If so, i think I have found the cause my vibration.

Well if you have a hole in the filter that would explain why it stopped moving, the hydro is sucking air. It looks like the spirol pin is missing. You need to fix or replace the worn parts on the drive shaft, replace the filter and if the fluid in the hydro is old change that also.

That makes perfect sense. Thanks for the response. Off to order some bearings, a filter, and a pin.

Angry

so i ordered what i thought was the pin, filter, and bearings. bearings are replaced and the filter is replaced, but it seems i ordered some sort of spring rather than the pin. Does anyone have a source for the part number for the pin that is missing? I have done some searching, but it doesn't seem to be listed.

I was lucky and the cub store down the road had it in stock. The mower is going again without an issue. I love this tractor.

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.

MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
