2084 PTO Problem
Need Advise, the PTO operates OK but when you turn the switch on, the battery
lite comes on the dash. I have disconnected the PTO and I am reading 1 ohm. Does this indicate a bad PTO field?? It almost like I have a short to ground when the PTO is on, but it operates OK. Thanks |

Since these do not have an ammeter, I would make sure that the charging system is working. Verify voltage when running at operating engine speed. Should be at least 13.5V.

One ohm is too low. I think it should be around 7 or 8 ohms.

I do have a bad coil on the clutch. I have ordered a new one from Extreme.
Thanks for the input, Men. |

Got the new PTO and the package had been dropped and damaged.
It cut the wires in three places. I am sending it back. |

Sorry to hear that. I hate it when that happens!

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.
MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
