Default New from upstate NY

Hey everyone:

Began my Cub Cadet journey with a 154 Lo-Boy which I sold last spring. Took the money and bought a used 1040 to mow with and a "hedgerow special" 1641 to resurrect.

Shortly after getting the 1641 going a friend called me and asked if I'd like to look at the "stuff" in her father's barn. Went over and found a total of seven classics! (ok, one was a Wheel Horse and another was a Sears...) Right now I'm negotiating to get the entire lot - not sure what they are worth. All of the engines are free, they haven't been started in 5+ years but they all ran when parked, two sets of wheel weights and one solid set of fenders. Most of the tin is there, although most has been painted whatever color happened to be on sale at the store that weekend. Photos are attached. Hoping to restore a few of them and maybe swap some of the others for implements or accessories.

I've also got a handful of old David Bradley walking tractors in the process of restoration. Unfortunately all of the original DB engines have been taken off I'm glad I have a barn large enough to store all of my yellow and white!

I'm from the southern Finger Lakes region - I call the area from Hornell to Corning my home. I'm always on the road between those two towns.

The haul hasn't happened yet - I'm still in the negotiation stage I'm keeping my fingers crossed, though.

Good looking group there. Looks like the Originals will clean up nicely. Brings back memories as I went to college at Alfred State and drive through that area quite a bit. Thanks for sharing and keep us posted

Good luck on the deal. Looks like the PO liked to remote mount the coils.

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.

MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
