Default Tomato Garden Question

A lot of my tomatoes are rotting before they turn red, when I go to pick it, it's already bad and rotten. Is there anything that I can do? Am I doing something wrong? I'm doing the same things I have always done. Any suggestions would be helpful. Thanks fellas!

Did you put any egg shells in your compost? You have blossom end rot, which comes from a lack of calcium in the soil. A quick fix, which I have not tried, but have heard works, would be to water them with some milk. Not sure how much.

We eat a lot of eggs in our house, so our compost is very calcium rich. No end rot in my garden!!!

Over watering will cause blossom end rot, but most likely you have some type of fungus. This is what I use. http://www.gardentech.com/Daconil.asp

Default Tomato Bottom Rot

This is a lack of calcium the cure is lime. Get a soil test from your local county agents office. In MS it cost $6.00 and takes about 2 weeks for results.

The Web site msucares.com from Mississippi State has alot of valuable info that is free.

Good morning! This may help you with blossom end rot. Enz-Rot Blossom End Rot Spray. www.GardensAlive.com . phone# 513-354-1483. 5100 Schenley Place, Lawrenceburg, IN .47025 . Last year I started to have a small problem with the tomatoes. So far this year, I have not yet needed any of this spray. I have not yet tried it, just got it myself and I hope it works. Heres what the 16fl.oz bottel says: Tomato blossom-end rot is a disorder caused by calcium deficiency. This condition is aided when too much nitrogen fertilizer is used on tomato plants. The symptoms of blossom-end rot are round, brown sunken areas on the end of the tomato fruit opposite the stem. As the tomato ripens the area turns dry and leathery. This can occure after a period of rapid growth followed by dry conditions, or in periods of heavyrain that causes calcium to leach from the soil. DIRECTIONS: Mix 2 oz. with 1 gallon of water. Cover foliage to runoff during periods of rapid growth of excessive rainfall. Apply every 5-7 days during these conditions. Apply in mornings or evenings to advoid leaf burn. I have almost 50 tomato plants, so this may or not be what your looking for. Just thought I'd toss this in as well!

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.

MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
