1641 PTO- Toast!
With the help of forum members, I’ve been able to resolve the ailments of this 22 year old machine [ which had sat for many years ,outside, covered].
Installed the mower deck, mowed for approximately 15 minutes, before the smoke and squealing started. It wouldn’t turnover, just clicked. Today, I pulled the PTO. On a side note, previously the tractor would start ok after sitting overnight, but would drag once the engine was warm. I’m thinking this was early stages of bearing failure. Without the PTO, the engine spins and starts like new. What sources are available for replacement, whether new/used. Thanks https://imgur.com/a/Wv2sPR6

Update
I received my replacement PTO from Xtreme. My problem is the voltage output is 14.46 volts on high speed at the PTO connection. Per their tech support it should be 13.4- 14.0 max. I have a new Interstate battery. The 2 yellow wires at the voltage rectifier/ regulator have 28 volts AC output, The red wire is showing 12.8 volts DC.
I don’t want to trash the coil with too much output. Any ideas ?? Thanks

Relax, put the new PTO on, pop a cold one and be happy. I'll bet that the voltage once you install it and flip the switch will be in the operating range.

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.
MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
