Default Found a hitch ball to fit

The hole in the back of the lawn tractors requires a 5/8" shank hitch ball to fit(without drilling or adding metal, etc). The problem is most hitch balls have 3/4-1" shank.
Tractor Supply carries a 5/8" shanked hitch ball for garden tractors. It is a little expensive but when it's all you can find...........

The metal on the new tractors can't take that......too thin. And here's the reason. They build in a flange for a little support. Drilling would take this out and you'd be pulling on that thin metal then. And I don't want to weld anything stronger to it so as to make it look bad for future sale.

1-7/8"
Will work with 2" receivers then since you aren't loading and pulling under extreme conditions.

Well, possibly. But I am always thinking of what I do to my vehicles will effect the eventual sale of them.
All my dirt bikes I put back to as close to stock condition as possible before selling them.

But I am thinking of restoring the 1872, yes.
