Default New 102 and mower deck question

I finally got my second Cub Cadet. It is a 102/71, because the P.O. put 71 foot rests, seat and spring, steering wheel from a 106, and fenders which look like from and older wheel horse. Also on the left side of the steering tower is a switch and inside of the tower it looks like it connects to the magnetic switch. I have no idea what that is or how it impacts the operation of the tractor.

Thanks for any input you may have.

Sorry, I posted that part in the implement section. I realized I had put it in the general area. Thanks for the reply.

What you are describing sounds to me like the factory position for the factory headlight switch for the factory headlights.
But with no pics, that's just a guess.

Thanks Ironman,
That sounds like what it must be. The p/o put another switch in for the headlights. I'll have to try to move them over to the stock switch.

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.

MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
