New Owner of a Cub Cadet LTX 1040
I am wondering if anyone else has ran into this situation: I purchased my Cub Cadet @ Home Depot in Wichita, Ks. I decided to buy the mulching kit from Home Depot online. Using the part # in the owner's manual (19A70002000) I placed the order. I received the kit yesterday, and guess what. The blades in the kit are too long to fit my tractor. They are 21-7/8" long, while the blades that came on the mower are 21-1/8". Needless to say, the mulching blades don't fit under the deck. I had to have a machinist shorten the blades by taking off 3/8" at each end. I am dumbfounded that others have not ran into the same problem.

Thanks for the welcome!

I would have returned them. They had to be packaged wrong or a missprint in the manual. Manuals are produced before the actual products are so errors are common. |

Good idea!
I would have returned them, but I was going to have to pay the freight to return them, and our nearest Home Depot is 90 miles away.

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.
MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
