2182 project
Just wanted to start a thread to share pics of this 2182 I picked up somewhat locally from another Cub enthusiast. He was in the process of swapping 782 tin onto it and I'm taking over from here.
I'll share some more pics as I get into it and look it over, but here it is today on the trip home.

Good looking find,do u know if there is a reason for the AGs being on backwards on the front?

If I had to guess, I'd say the wheels are on backwards. Tires are okay.

Any time you put a lug (Ag tire) on a non-driving wheel, it is a good idea to run them backwards. That way the ground rolls the tire the same way that a driving wheel would push. Make sense?

I asked the same question about the front ags and was told that the non driving tires should self-clean better that way...not sure if I like them that way or not.

I would b interested in some real world results, like using a plow or something like that. What John says does make sence, which is why I was wondering.

Jon already has "real world experience" with this. Not my first rodeo. A non driving tire with ags WILL "clean" better when on "backwards".
That said, on a GT...... you probably really wouldn't notice much difference. Unless you're in the mud, then you will. Machine just isn't heavy enough. |

Nice find on the 2182 Paul. Now how did ya get Steve to sell that? I thought he was gonna do a pair of turboed Kubotas. The turbo he put on his 1572 is slick and sounds good. Did you get to see it in person? Congrats.......

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.
MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
