New to This Forum
New to this forum, but not new to Cub Cadets. I bought my first (a 123)about 2001, my second (a 125) about a year later. Have overhauled both engines, bought a mower deck for the 123, and a snow blade for the 125.
As you can see from the pic, I make my Cub Cadets work for a living. I put about 200 lbs of weights on it, in addition to the wheel weights, chains and my not inconsiderable ballast in the seat just to give it enough traction to push snow. It never seems to run out of power. I came here following a link to information on narrow frame hydraulic lifts. I bought a lift at Red Power Round Up this past June to put on the 125 to lift the snow plow. I'm getting tired of lifting it by hand. I found enough information to help me work the bugs out of it, and it looks like I will be ready when winter gets here. (thanks!) I use the 125 year-round. During the winter, it plows snow. In the summer it is my UTV/Shop Mule/show ground transportation. I'm in Lancaster County PA. |

Welcome and nice tractor.
Ever think about installing a spring assist to lift it? They work great and make lifting the plow nearly effortless. Any type of hydraulic or cable type lift will most likely be pretty slow VS the manual lift with spring assist.

Had a spring on it. It helps, but that blade is HEAVY, and it is out front pretty far, so it has a lot of leverage over a manual lift.

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.
MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
