Well first off the largest deck Cub made for a Super is the 60" Haban so no way it has a72" deck. Price is high when you compare it to this one with a 3 point hitch and AG's

Woody, I agree with Sam. Like we stated earlier, you have to consider that these are 20 plus year old tractors and they ALL need some sort of attention. When you buy one of these Cubs you have to buy knowing you're going to spend some money on them. Paying an elevated price going in can make your tractor become very high priced in the end.
The diesels do command a higher price but also they usually have higher hours which in turn means more wear. If it were me, I'd sit back and let the right tractor show up. It's winter and there tends to be a lot of items come up for sale at good "off season" prices. |

Woody,
The price sounds high to me. A nice running 1572 with 1100 hours, no 3 pt or rear pto, decent deck, decent tires, and decent paint, should go for roughly $1500-2000 (high end for nice original). If it was loaded with a 3 pt, rear pto, runs great, and has nice, original paint, you might be in the $2500 range at the high end. $2600 sounds high to me, but we don't know how she looks, etc. The 1100 hours wouldn't scare me away at all. As long as the PO did good maintence, these diesels will run for thousands and thousands of hours. Biggest downfall on the smokers, the driveline. Prolly would need rebuilt or upgraded. That can get pricey. Got any pics to show us? Disclaimer: Prices are guestimates from my end. Nothing set in stone..... Under edit: You state is looks rough per the owner. I'd shoot more towards the lower end and the $1500 range. (Although the leaf vac may add some value. Never priced one.)

Thank you guys for the advise you saved me again. Perhaps one day I can come across one that is reasonably priced at least now I'm more educated as to reasonable price ranges.

Found the 1572 in question. Doesn't look too bad. Still probably only worth about $1500. The deck looks like a 50" deck, not a 72". Also looks like the hood was chopped up on the left side. Diesel hoods are harder than hades to find. A guy handy in metal work could fix it. I'd keep looking if you're not in too big a hurry. Or call and make an offer. Cash talks. Good luck!

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.
MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
