Smile New Member from Alabama ready to rebuild a 149

Hello from Alabama!! I will have a Cub 149 in my possession within the next month and I hope to use all of the resources here to help me get it back up and running like a new machine. I have attached the only pictures I currently have of my tractor here but as soon as I go pick it up from my friends house I will probably start a thread with my rebuild process. If anybody see's anything in these first few pics that you know I'll need, feel free to let me know so I can make a parts list.

Welcome to OCC.....

The 149 is an excellent candidate for a restoration.

I think so too! 1, its all metal and 2, I got it for free. I offered to pay my friend for it and he said he's happy to not see it scrapped.

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.

MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
