I use 80 on a d.a then 180 on d.a prime then sand with 400 by hand and on a d.a. i use grey primer

I've always used the red oxide color primer on any equipment type stuff I've painted. Seems to work fine for me. My dad did a whole ford 640 only using the red oxide primer in rattle cans and a spray gun. Valspar makes it

I used a medium primer on a john deere that i had and i started out at 400 grit and went up from there but i stoped at 1000grit

Pretty sure he means a Dual Action sander

I work in a body shop and paint cars for a living.... 1000 gritt is way to fine for the paint to bight into. 800 is the highest id go. D.a dual action sander. Wire wheel works bt sandbladting is fast and gets rid of rust easily
