Were Chrome IH Hubcaps an Option for a Model 70 or 100?
just wondering if the chrome IH hubcaps were an option for the narrow frames. I noticed that a pair that I have pop right on to the rear wheels of my 70.

No, I do not believe so. I think the IH hubcaps were available options either in the late 60's or 70's, but not early or mid 60's. Solid (non-IH) chrome hubcaps were on the 123's (1967), but not the IH ones. The attached address shows the 70/100 when it first came out. Read over the options and chrome hubcaps are not mentioned as options at that time. I'm not 100% for sure.

but they were blank.
The IH logo never showed up on optional hub caps until the 82 series. I think. |

Well, I decided to option mine with some hubcaps. They aren't the blank ones, but they make me happy.

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.
MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
