Picked up a couple 129s
I've been watching CL for well over a year, looking for a couple candidates for my next custom build project. What popped up was a pair of 129s, one with a hydraulic lift and the other with manual lift but has headlights and original tail lights (with one broken lens). Both have decks, one in very nice condition, the other pretty roached.
One has a new starter, and a replacement engine. The other has a new coil. Neither would start when I went to look at them, though both turned over slowly with the weak batteries in them. Neither hydro release was functional, but they rolled as you'd expect they would with auto relief valves. Will take a look tomorrow. Owner said they were both running last summer. Both appear mostly original. They were only about an hour from the house. Got them unloaded and will try to get them started tomorrow and pull them into the shop. I'm in the middle of another bathroom remodel, so that has to be the priority for the next month or so. Then I'll turn my attention to this pair and see what happens.

Great score Sawdusted!! Maybe it is the shadows, but it looks like the one on the front of your trailer has the vent decals on the recesses of the hood, too! I've seen (and bought) some that were pretty roached and neither of your 129's look bad at all. Paint looks good for the age and the seat look real good on the one in front. Maybe you lucked out and both are runners for you. Looks like a fun pair to revive.

Yes, the one has those little vent decals on the hood still. One seat is good, the other split.

Got them both started today, easy peasy. Some new gas, a charged battery, new plugs and a touch of starting fluid and they both took off. The hydraulic lift unit moved well under power, and got pulled into the shop.
The other unit started but ran rough, lots of missing. Tractor didn't move though, so something is broken or disconnected. Also, no governor. Motor would over rev easily. Didn't have time to figure out what was wrong before dark. It's still outside with a tarp on it.

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.
MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
