Default Any thoughts on trading my 582 for a 1282?

A friend of mine has a 1282 in very good original condition and he wants my yellow 582. I only have $100 in the 582 and my compression check showed it didn't have good compression, which is believeable ( it turns by hand a little to freely.) He wants $500 for the 1282 that is still in current use. We are talking about I give him $350 and my old 582, any thoughts on this? In reality the 582 needs a lot of work and is missing parts and will likely be on the back burner for quite some time, that is why I'm considering letting it go. I will get some pics of the 1282 next time I go for a visit, pics of 582 are in one of my other threads. Im aware that both machines are CCC built and I'm not picky about color. Just looking for your opinions.

Although I am not familiar with these Cubs and I may be wrong here, but I'd say a yellow 582 would be a bit uncommon and in my book a reason to keep it for restoration. Especially if it is an early build
What is the serial number?

Just my $0.02 worth

The 582 came with a 16HP B&S engine. Not a fan of B&S. The 1282 has a 12HP Kohler. IMO, I would prefer the 1282.

Most all the 82 series I have ever seen around here are red.

The serial# tag is missing on my 582, however it does have an IH hour meter on it and it says international on the dash. However like Roland I would prefer the Kohler in the 1282 over the B&S in the 582. I am curious though does anyone know if the hydros in the 1282s are ported to accept hydraulic lift?

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.

MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
