Buddy of mine wanted to know why his 1200 was not running right and always wanted to "run away"

I told him Nov 8th was just a few weeks away and time to elect a new governor among other things!. Don't Ya think!!

I'd say a new governor is in order! Looks like you got the good out of that one!

Looks like it's time for a full rebuild, I can only assume that the governor in the oil pan is what broke the dipper.

Yep, it's junk.

Only thing I see in the last pic is that the head gasket was leaking.....

Looks like a couple of oversize bolts stuck in there.

You guys are close!
The center bolt is 5/16"??? & looks to be helicoiled, bolt was gr5, rest are OEM
Head gasket looked good though it may have had some blow by
and it ran good when it did run.
Crank, block & valves are at the machine shop now
waiting on diagnosis.

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.

MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
