New DIY Landplane For My IH
I never really had an attachment that would use the power of my 584 IH,,,
mostly because CATII attachments get REAL expensive. The box blade, and even a 7 foot rear blade never taxed the 584's HP. Well,, one night I got hooked watching YouTube videos of LP's,,, they do an amazing job. I looked at my material stockpile, and decided I had most of what I needed. I remembered the local CAT dealer had a graveyard of used and takeoff parts they sell cheap. I went down there, and,,, sure enough, they had the four 7 foot grader blades I was hoping for.  Two are 5/8" thick, two are 3/4" thick, all are 8" wide, and 7 feet long. The bolts that hold them on are even massive,,  The bolt on the right is a 3/8" bolt, for comparison. Then, after a lot of sawing, some drilling,,,    finally, I got to the fun part, the welding.   About a week ago, I spent 3 hours getting the front blade assembly into the frame.  The blade assembly weighs over 325 pounds,, it was a monster to position and weld, because of the 15 degree angle. Purely by coincidence,,, the night after I finished the welding of the front blade, we received 5 inches of rain. My 1400 foot driveway was obliterated.  No time for testing, and paint, the landplane had to go to work.

Here is a pic of that section of the driveway after four passes of the LP, two up, and two down.
 The LP earned its keep on its first outing,, the 584 finally has an attachment that will make the engine pull.  After grading, I rolled the driveway with my ~300 pound roller.  After seeing the results, my SIL is nagging me to build a miniture version, so he can use it behind the 2284 CC,,,

Good idea John. To bad you weren't a couple hundred miles closer. We have tons of used cutting edges sitting here waiting for someone with this idea.
