Default Spread frame repower

I have a 1989 CC 1050 spreadframe. Which to my understanding is essentially a white and yellow 582 with a kohler magnum 10hp.

I also have a source for a K341 that I want to use to repower the 1050. I don't know yet if it is a narrow block or a wide block. From another forum I read it doesn't really matter. If it is a narrow block then I could use a cradle from a 1282 or 1204, and if it a wide block ???? I don't know. Has anyone done this swap on a 582? Will it work?

I can't speak for fitment, but have you considered the facts that:

1. The Magnum is magneto ignition, the K341 is coil & points.
2. The Magnum has internal voltage regulation, the K341 is external.
3. The Magnum is equipped with a starter, the K341 uses a starter/generator for starting and charging.

All wiring issues.

ironman....the 1650 used k-341 that had a flywheel driven starter and a stator with a rectifier/regulator. The 169 used a starter/generator.

Attached are pics of the k341. Can anyone tell me if this has a flywheel driven started or starter/generator? I believe it to be a flywheel driven 1987 k341. As far as having points or internal/external regulator I don't know. Any help would be appreciated. Also still trying to find out if this repower will work.

The K341S-71309 was an engine built for the WW Grainger Company as an aftermarket replacement. It is a 1987 model with an Electric Starter.

I didn't even think of that. I was assuming a 169's K341. I stand corrected, thank you!

Ironman, you just had a brain fart....you know your stuff!

Cadetpuller, that engine will require a great deal of modification to work in a 1050. Also, the crankshaft may be the wrong size for the PTO clutch. Something else too, the oil pan is not one that is used in a typical Cub Cadet.

I'm not worried about the PTO clutch as it will only be used for pulling. Does the K341 share a block with anything that cub cadet did use that I could swap oil pans with?

the block is flanged at the bottom to accommodate a standard oil pan/mounting surface. I suppose you could make something work to mount this engine. the flywheel. however. is not set up to connect a driveshaft.

Thanks for the info. Sounds like something beyond my skill set and budget. I'm just building something for fun, not competition.
