Default Picked this up at the auction yesterday

This is a 1980 Ariens snowblower ,two stage four speed with reverse. It has electric start, the type you plug into the wall and push the little button. It has a locking differential for a mower or vac attachment. Looks like it hasn't been used much. The Chrome is still shiny and the tires are not worn, it has two small dings in auger. I took off the muffler and will put a new one on it. I have the snow shield for it.
New carb kit and it runs great.

I have the exact same model that I purchased 25 years ago, used, from a co-worker. I'm on my second engine, having experienced a broken crank in the original engine. They are a great machine and very powerful for their size. If you will be offering it for sale Lew, I'd be interested. My daughter just bought a house and I am not interested in shoveling for her. I might run a snowblower if it were stationed there and ready to go!

Now If I new you wanted one, I would have bought the other one that was next to it. I bought this one for my sidewalks and the patio down by the shack.
You would have to make a good offer if you wanted to make me shovel again.

Nice grab Uncle Lewy! I think Ariens made the snow blowers for Cub Cadet, John Deere, and maybe a couple more in the '70's (and possibly the 80's). Great shape for its age. I picked up an Allis Chalmers for $50, but it has a Tecumseh on it that I have yet to get fired up. Some tire chains would help dress up your new ride.

Nice find! We have one just like it -- in the family since new. Way better than a box store one today (well, minus steering clutches) and for a good price.

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.

MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
