Default ID my tractor?

Just saved this from the scrap yard. Serial number is not visible but I’m guessing it’s 1961-1963. I haven’t seen many with the headlights and the creeper gear.

Don’t know why the pictures are sideways… I apologize for any neck injuries that could occur.

GREAT SAVE!!
That is indeed a very well optioned Original Cub Cadet!!
Congrats on a SUPER find!!
Serial number should be STAMPED, not cast, into the right side of the transmission reduction housing.
Paint removal and wire brushing may be req'd to reveal just what the number is.

Probably a 61, no steering adjustment slot on dash tower.
Head light brackets are upside down.
Looks like it has a tail light also.

Ok, a little work with the wire wheel exposed the serial number 16159 with a “Y” at the bottom. So I believe it’s a 1961 from Sep. or Oct. Not sure what the “Y” is for.

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.

MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
