KY mule man.
Grew up in Casey County, in the hills of KY, behind a pair of mules, and just can't seen to be different, even after 50 years gone. Returned to the neighboring Taylor County, and Campbellsville. So it's just natural to call my new IH CC149, the "Yella' Mule".
Over the last week, I've tried 4 or 5 Forums, looking for active discussion about these great pieces of history and machinery. I think I've found the right place. My Grand Dad had several Farmalls. My Dad's first tractor (Before the mules!), was a new Cub (1947 I think). A few years ago I had a couple of IHs (C and M) for a short time. And in the 80's I bought my son a CC for his lawn mowing business. We did not keep it long, but I think it must have been an "O". The family and I traveled for over 40 years in the ministry, so no time for the farm life. But, now retired with a damaged heart, and some time, and a little energy, to get back to, at least gardening. And so. ...the CC. Thanks for the invite, http://onlycubcadets.net/forum/attac...1&d=1396634145

Welcome, Steve. This is THE PLACE for all things Cub Cadet, from the 1961 vintage Original Model through the current MTD made machines.
My long-deceased Dad used to talk sometimes about the Farmall A model they had on the farm, after "Pops" (grandfather) stopped using mules. Oldest Farmall I ever drove was a Farmall 350.

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.
MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
