Default Large battery box on CC100

I've looked back on several old threads on this subject. I just bought a CC100 as a parts tractor for my '64 CC100 (SN 92562 ) and quickly noticed a difference between the two tractors - the '64 I have has a small battery box and the parts tractor has a large one . Unfortunately for me the parts tractor does not have a rear end (sold by the PO before I got it), so I don't have the serial number. I posted last week looking for info on the Kohler engine SN and got a quick response from Roland that it is probably a 1964 or older. Does that fall in line with the larger battery box (which is pretty obviously original equipment - see the attached picture)? I've yet to start the engine, so I don't know if it has a non compression release or not. I take it from Merk's post back in 2018 that the serial number of this "parts tractor" should be 89000 or less. That sound about right? By the way, I'm going to try and make this not a parts tractor. I have a CC106 tranny that should fit it, so I'm hoping to get it back "on the road." Here's the picture:

There has been discussion on the Battery Box of the 70/100 series. There were two sizes, small & large. In the TC-113 Parts Manual, Section B, which covers the 70/100 series tractors, there is NO distinction on the size of the battery box. Thus, I believe there was a production change, but no parts record of it, nor a time frame, or serial number change point.

I guess I need to try and start it with a small size battery and see if it has an ACR or not. I hope it does, but that large box tells me otherwise. Unless this isn't the original engine. No way to tell at this point.

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.

MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
