Default New Owner of a 105

Hey guys,

I've been viewing the forums as a guest for a while trying to learn as much as I can about these old cub cadets. I finally purchased a cub cadet 105 with a mower deck so decided to make the jump and join the forum. There is still a lot I don't know about these tractors and I'm looking forward to learning more about them here!

I paid $150 and had the guy drop it off at my house. It has issues with staying running but I'm trying to take care of that. I'll try to get some pictures on here in the next couple days for ya.

Thanks! I bought it as a fixeruper. Once I get it running reliably, I'm going to sand blast and repaint it. It's kinda fun working on it, and keeps me busy.

Welcome. Wow $150 and getting it delivered is a great price. Beware these machines are very addicting and seem to multiply. Hope you have more room they appear out of nowhere begging you to buy them.

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.

MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
