Default New to pressure washers

I got a ten year old Generac One PW recently. It works OK. It does not have the same power as my neighbors Generac One. I got a pressure gauge to test it out. I am still a novice when it comes to these things.
Using a Tiny Tach and the gauge I got following with a 15degree 3.5 nozzle.
3500 rpm, 2900psi with trigger off.
3300 rpm and 2400psi with trigger on. Should the rpm drop that much?
I am also puzzled by the claimed specs for this unit. Generac says it puts out 3100psi and is rated at 2.8gpm. The pump is an Annovi RMV2.5G30. This is rated by Annovi to put out 2.5gmp and either 2500psi or 3000psi at 3400rpm. (they are not clear why there are two pressure ratings).
So how does Generac come up with their 2.8gpm and 3100psi rating. Is it plain old marketing BS or are they running the pump above the 3400rpm rating.
I will probably adjust the governor to get 3400rpm under load and see what happens. Maybe one of the those cheap pumps on Amazon are in my future.

Sam Mac
Thanks, I looked at their site and the parts are pretty expensive. I think I will try one of the $100 Amazon pumps.

I bought one of these inexpensive Sun Joe SPX1500 for less than $100 new in 2019. I've used the heck out of it from power washing the house to retaining walls to decks to walkways to fencing and even to farm tractors and it's still going strong. A little less GPM than yours but I'm on a well so gotta be careful. They do make bigger units. For less than $100 and 5 years of good use it's a heckuvalot cheaper than buying parts to try and keep an older one working IMHO. I got mine at Lowes.

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.

MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
