Shure wish I could find one of those AM radios with music hall reproduction so that groovey chic there in the background would come over and dance around while I was cutting the grass. I just bet if you had one of them you would get all the girls. Who needs a sports car when you've got a cub!

I can remember back in the 70s how some of these prices seemed so high. I remember fighting the lift arm while gardening for my folks. I wasn't aware of things like spring assist (probably $12 or $15 at the time) and hydraulics weren't even thought of. We replaced the voltage regulator once and were amazed at the $20 (approx) price on the part. It's funny how one can remember the darndest things.

And look at things now.

Plug those prices into this calculator,,,,

http://data.bls.gov/cgi-bin/cpicalc....969&year2=2014

The items (including hydraulic-transmission fluid) are cheaper now!!

Who would pay $77.45 for a muffler??

$16.85 for a tire gauge,,,,

I love today's prices!!

Must have been really good profits and enough buyers to bother offering IH branded accessories like jumper cables and tire gauges!.

That's so cool. I picked up one of these accessories catalogs at the roundup in Montgomery this year. Check out the price on those hub caps.

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.

MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
