Electrical function of interlock switch XT1
Hi, been getting the rider ready for spring. I found an interlock connected to dash lever ( lever holds parking brake and does "cruise control") what exactly does this switch control? Does it work with the seat interlock to allow start up when not on seat?
Parts diagram just list interlock Model XT1-LT 46 (13APA1CT056) - Cub Cadet 46" XT1 Enduro Lawn Tractor (2015) Thanks |

Hard to say without looking at a Wiring Schematic or Diagram.

Wiring schematic as Roland says is the key. If I had to guess the whole
darn electrical probably goes through that switch to keep you from doing things they don't want you to. safeties safeties safeties. Ken |

After seaching, I found a wiring diagrams for my model. The switch under dash connected to the brake/cruise lever is for reverse module.
After studying the layout, the interlocks ( seat,PTO, reverse, and brake) have dual functions. First is to prevent starting when not seated, PTO engaged and brake not depressed. But will take magneto to ground if running and either going in reverse with PTO engaged, getting off seat. I would assume the reason for reverse module to allow limited over ride of reverse interlock. (To be able to mow in reverse, 2 interlocks engaged) The wiring layout would theoretically allow all the interlocks unplugged, and run a jumper to starter solenoid with key switch on, should start. And key off will ground magneto (engine off) Seems they had to cover a lot of safety issues. It makes it easier to diagnose an issue, such as no crank, jump 12v to solenoid, crank no start, 12v to key switch pin 3. |
