Default 70 carb
Took the carb off the 70 today along with the fuel tank.

Can anyone school me on which carb this is? Evidently there are three different ones??

The numbers 4147808 ( could be 4147806- my eyes are getting bad) are in the side of the housing. The throttle shaft wobbles terrible.

The fuel line had some very dry rubber gaskets which will need replacing.

Wire brush the top of the flange. The carb number should be there. Those rubber ferrules are about $4.00 a piece.

That is a Carter/ Kohler carb. Why does everyone get so worried about getting the numbers? You don't need them to order a kit. THEY ALL TAKE THE SAME KIT.

You can do a quick simple fix for that throttle shaft.... or at least usually you can:

You can get those rubber ferrules on ebay. 10 packs for less than $10. I don't recall what size they are. I'm not much for the old school steel line. I just switch it over to rubber. Easy peezy, and usually no leaks. No one cares if it has that "original" steel line, nor does it make it worth any more.

Go to the link I sent earlier and go down to page 3, I think that may be your carb. Kohler inserts spaces between the numbers I guess.

I actually like the look of the old steel line. Its a lot "cleaner" looking. I would think a true collector/restorer (not guys like most here that still run them) would prefer it as well. I think we only have one with the original fuel line. All a matter of preference I suppose.

Ok.... so most no one.

To me it's no different than replacing the battery with a "new" one, or replacing the old cloth wrapped wire with a new wiring harness. I prefer function over look on a fuel line. But, I digress. To each his own.
