Default 124-129 steering ?
Hey guys, Can anyone tell me if the steering column from 129 will work in my 124? The 129 I got for engine doners steering has little to no slop in it. The 124 is pretty sloppy and was hoping to swap them out. I checked Partstree, they have different part numbers but look identical in pics...

Probably different shaft lengths.
I think the wide frames have longer shafts.
Just rebuild the one you have.
Probably only needs adjustment, at worst, new rod ends and cam follower.
If the 129 has better parts, just use them to rebuild the NF unit.

Yes, it'll work. I have one on my 127. Besides being longer, I believe they are also a 3-turn wheel as opposed to a 2-turn.

The 147 I picked up last summer had that issue

I don't think it will work. The WF steering columns are shorter than the NF ones. Even among the NF steering columns there are differences. A 104 steering column would not even work in my 73 because it was too short.

You may have to lengthen one or shorten one in order to get the right parts.
either way, it's doable.
Just yesterday I had to rework the shaft for the 104 I'm restoring because the threads and spline were ruined. I cut off the damaged end and welded another on after shortening it some to get the correct 24" OAL.
